Media Invite: SAHRC Eastern Cape Provincial Office to conduct a community outreach engagement with youth in conflict with the law

Attention: Editors and Reporters

28 June 2024

The South African Human Rights Commission (“the Commission”) is constitutionally mandated to promote and provide education on human rights. In alignment with this mandate, the Commission’s Eastern Cape Provincial Office (ECPO), in partnership with the Safer South Africa Foundation (SSAF), will conduct a community public outreach engagement. This initiative aims to inform and empower youth and children in conflict with the law about their rights and the rights of others, emphasizing the application of human rights principles in everyday life.

The engagement will feature an informative session on human rights and the associated responsibilities. This will be followed by a question-and-answer segment designed to foster public participation and cultivate a culture of human rights, which is crucial for long-term social change and the protection of human rights.

The information session is scheduled as follows:

Date: 28 June 2024

Area: Cambridge, East London

Venue: John X Merriman Youth and Child Care Centre

Time: 10h00 - 14h00
