Media Invite: SAHRC Mpumalanga Provincial Office to conduct a SHiNE dialogue on the right to culture

Attention: Editors and Reporters

03 September 2024

The South African Human Rights Commission (the Commission) initiated the Social Harmony National Effort (SHiNE) that aims to promote social cohesion, harmony, tolerance, and respect for human rights across South Africa. SHiNE anticipates a bottom-up approach that enjoins all South Africans toward positive change and a new culture of intense social interaction, solidarity and more mutual respect amongst people.

The Commission shall, in collaboration with the Pan South African Language Board, hold a dialogue with young people to discuss the importance and role of our diverse cultures in impacting interpersonal relations and social cohesion in society.

The dialogue aims to inculcate and enhance a sense of unity, self-respect and ubuntu amongst people, especially the youth so that they can see themselves as agents of positive change and influence to the broader society irrespective of their diverse ethnicity and cultures.

The dialogue is scheduled to take place as follows:

Date: 03 September 2024

Venue: Chilli Pepper Boutique Hotel, Mbombela

Time: 10h00 – 14h00

Ends
