Media Alert: SAHRC’s Limpopo Provincial Office celebrates National Heritage Day Calendar Engagement in Polokwane

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) is a state institution established by Chapter 9 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996 to support constitutional democracy. The SAHRC is mandated in terms of section 184 of the Constitution to promote the protection, development, and attainment of human rights, and to monitor the observance of such rights within the Republic of South Africa.

As the Heritage Month draws to a close, the SAHRC’s Limpopo Provincial Office (LPO) finds it necessary to celebrate the National Heritage Day to assist the community to assert their human rights as enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996. 

The celebration also aims to strengthen relations with Human Rights Champions, stakeholders and community members by educating on the significance of Heritage Day in upholding human rights values relating to cultural, religious and linguistic communities.

Furthermore, it aims to reflect on mental health awareness to impact the restoration of human dignity and identity to bring about social cohesion as follows:
