Media Advisory: SAHRC’s Eastern Cape Provincial Office to conduct monitoring activities in the Sarah Baartman District Municipality

The South African Human Rights Commission's (SAHRC) Eastern Cape Provincial Office (ECPO) is undertaking monitoring initiatives in the Sarah Baartman District Municipality. These initiatives will focus on inspecting correctional centres, police stations, and public service delivery systems, as well as assessing the implementation of recommendations from the Malnutrition Report in schools.

In accordance with Section 184(1)(c) of the Constitution, the SAHRC is mandated to monitor and evaluate the observance of human rights across South Africa. This includes investigating areas of potential human rights violations and seeking appropriate remedies where required.
