Media Advisory: The SAHRC’S Gauteng Provincial Office (GPO) to participate in Part II of the Usindiso Commission of Inquiry

The South African Human Rights Commission’s (the Commission) Gauteng Provincial Office (GPO) will today, 22 October 2024, make its opening statement at the commencement of Part II of the Usindiso Commission of Inquiry. Part II of the inquiry investigates the prevalence of “hijacked” buildings in the inner city in Johannesburg.

The Commission participates in this inquiry as an Amicus Curiae seeking to make recommendations at the inquiry for the preservation and protection of the rights entrenched in the Bill of Rights, particularly, the rights to housing and access to basic services.
