Attention: Editors and Reporters
Tuesday, 29 October 2024

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) invites members of the media to the release of its report on the state of roads infrastructure in the Eastern Cape. The inquiry, held in November 2023r, sought to address long-standing issues affecting the province's road network, particularly highlighting the historical neglect and challenges faced by communities due to deteriorating road conditions.

A range of stakeholders, including Government representatives, civil society organisations, and community members, presented evidence on the impact of the failing infrastructure on human rights. The report will be released on 30 October 2024, with key findings and recommendations aimed at fostering accountability and guiding improvements in the Eastern Cape’s roads infrastructure.

Proceedings are planned as follows:

  • Date      : Wednesday, 30 October 2024
  • Time      : 10:00 am
