Media Advisory: The South African Human Rights Commission’s North West Provincial Office will conduct Human Rights Capacity Building workshop aimed at capacitating the North West Disability Sector Forum

Attention: Editors and Reporters
Thursday, 7 November 2024

On 7 and 8 November 2024, the South African Human Rights Commission’s (SAHRC/the Commission) North West Provincial Office (NWPO) will conduct capacity building workshop aimed at capacitating the provincial disability forum leadership.

The capacity building workshop will comprise training on the work and mandate of the Commission, Right to Equality and Equality Courts, the right to protest, right to water and sanitation, right to housing, evictions and the SHiNE program, amongst others. The Commission notes with concern that, despite the dawn of freedom and democracy, and notwithstanding the gains achieved thus far, considerable challenges remain in respect of the advancement of the Bill of Rights, particularly for persons with disabilities.

The capacity building workshop will be held as follows:

  • Date: 7 and 8 November 2024
  • Time: 09h00am– 16h00
  • Venue: Palm Swift Luxurious hotel (Brits)
