Attention: Editors and Reporters
21 November 2024

The South African Human Rights Commission (the Commission) in the Northern Cape will be conducting a stakeholder engagement to address issues of racism, discrimination, and hate speech in schools across the Northern Cape.

The engagement aims to foster an open dialogue on promoting inclusivity, respect, and equality within educational settings, where recent incidents have highlighted the ongoing challenges in creating safe and supportive learning environments for all learners.

The stakeholder engagement is scheduled to take place as follows:
  Date : Thursday, 21 November 2024
  Time : 10:00 AM to 13:00 PM
Venue : Flamingo Casino (N12 / Phakamile Mabija Rad), Memorial Road Area, Kimberley

The engagement will bring together representatives from the Northern Cape Department of Education, School Governing Bodies, Teachers Trade Unions, Equal Education Law Centre, and other key stakeholders. Participants will discuss the current landscape, share experiences and best practices, and collaborate on strategies to combat racism, discrimination and hate speech within schools.
