Media Advisory: SAHRC to meet with Uthukela District Civil Society regarding the state of human rights in the region

Attention: Editors and Reporters
Tuesday, 21 January 2025

Following the release of its KwaZulu Natal Water Inquiry Report in September 2023, the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC/the Commission) is continuing with the programme to visit District Municipalities to monitor progress on the implementation of its recommendations, and to assess the state of human rights in the respective regions.

The Commission will meet with the uThukela District Council and civil society. The Commission will also be conducting site visits in the local municipalities that fall under the District. The Commission calls on Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in the uThukela District Municipality to engage with the Commission in detailing the state of human rights in the District and Province at large.
