The civil society stakeholder meetings seek to obtain first-hand information from the organisations or stakeholders on the state of human rights in their respective local municipalities, to draw on the activism and social action of local civil society groupings, to contribute and actively engage in the development of community-based solutions on human rights challenges facing the district. The Commission seeks to intensify human rights awareness and reach through stakeholder networks and relations with CSOs, and how they can assist communities to lodge complaints with the Commission as part of access to justice.
The Commission will develop a report on the state of human rights in the province which will also consider interventions to address the various issues and challenges raised.
