Media Advisory: North West Provincial Office to conduct an inquiry into scholar challenges in the North West Province

Attention: Editors and Reporters
Monday, 10 March 2025

The South African Human Rights Commission’s (SAHRC/the Commission) North West Provincial Office (NWPO) will hold a Provincial Investigative Inquiry into the State of Scholar Transport in the province.

The inquiry aims to investigate and assess challenges affecting the provision of scholar transport, particularly in rural and underprivileged communities. During the three-day proceedings, the Commission will receive oral and written submissions from stakeholders to better understand the extent of scholar transport issues and the government’s response to these concerns. The findings will form part of a comprehensive investigative report with recommendations aimed at ensuring safe, reliable, and accessible transport for all learners.

The investigative inquiry is scheduled as follows:

  • Date: 11 - 13 March 2025
  • Place: Mahikeng, Protea Hotel
  • Time: 9h00am (each day)
