SAHRC Gauteng Provincial Office hosts a roadshow at Mfuleni Local Municipality

The South Africa Human Rights Commission, Gauteng Provincial Office (GPO), will host a week long road show in different areas around Emfuleni Municipality.

The purpose of the road show is to raise awareness, sensitise and educate communities about human rights and the mandate of the Commission. This approach allows for increasing engagement with the community with the intention to promote a culture of human rights. The engagements will empower and enable communities to become aware of their human rights and how to claim them.
The proposed road shows will include the following activities, inspection, presentation, workshop and outreach clinic.

Day 1, 5 September, Evaton Township
•    Visit - Schools – 10:00 -
•    Inspection/walkabout, Informal settlement – Kanana, Evaton Small Farm, 12:00
•    Visit – Health facility and
•    Evaton Mall, 15:00

Day 2, 6 September, Bophelong

•    Workshop NGOs, organised formations – Bophelong Library, 10:00
•    Outreach Clinic - Community, unorganised formation, Bophelong Ext 6 Development Centre (ASEDI), 12:00
•    Walk about - Bophelong Taxi rank, 14:30

Day 3, 7 September - Sharpville Township

•    Outreach Clinic Workshop – NGOs and Community  Sharpville Library, 10:00
•    Visit - Old Age Home – Roda Yende, 12:00
•    Health facility – 13:30

Day 4, 8 September, Sebokeng Township

•    Workshop - Victim Empowerment, Social Development, Sebokeng, 10:00
Office Precinct – Magistrate Court, SASSA, Municipal Offices,  
•    Outreach Clinic - Sebokeng, Kwa Masiza Hostel, 13:00
