The Limpopo MEC of Health, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, has lambasted Malamulele Hospital staff management on Wednesday, March 28.
This came after the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) wrote to the department concerning the death of a boy who died after he was re-admitted on Monday after having been discharged before he could be cured.
It is believed that the boy died on Monday while queuing for to be re-admitted at the hospital and he was in possession of expired medication.
According to a statement made by SAHRC Provincial Manager,Victor Mavhidula, patients have been given expired medication and food.
Additionally doctors were neglecting the patients.
“We are going to summon the department of health to give us a full detailed report about these allegations and they must account,” he said However, the MEC of health has denied allegations that the child died while in the queue to see a doctor.

She also said those doctors who were laughing when they were told that the child is dead will face a disciplinary hearing.
“All disciplinary actions will be taken against those doctors, they are not here to laugh at patients but to save lives,” she said.
She also took a swipe at nurses who shout at patients and do not focus on their work.
Meanwhile Malamulele Hospital Board Chairman, Prince Nghulukhulu, said they are welcoming the MEC’s interventions and changes and hope that it will help improve the hospital and the patients will receive all their medical rights.
Ramathuba appointed a new CEO, Gezani Morris Baloyi, and a Clinical Manager who will join the hospital next month.
