Edward Zuma ordered to apologise and pay R60k to schools in hate speech case

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) and lawyers representing Edward Zuma have reached a settlement over hate speech charges lodge against the former president's son last year.

In an open letter Zuma called Pravin Gordhan and Derek Hanekom "askaris" and "defenders of white monopoly capital."

The commission took the matter to the equality court describing Zuma's comments as promoting hatred on the basis of race.

Eyewitness News reporter Ziyanda Ngcobo has more on the story.

Today we have heard that Edward Zuma will have to issue an apology to the nation within seven days.
