The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) is looking into claims that medical aid schemes are discriminating against black medical professionals.
The National Health Care Professionals Association says its black, Indian and coloured members are being bullied and racially profiled.
The implicated medical aid schemes and the association appeared before the SAHRC this week.
SAHRC Gauteng head Buang Jones says medical aid schemes are adamant that the allegations made against them are 'wild and unfounded'.
The association asserted very strongly that they are being discriminated against and they can provide evidence to corroborate this.
We have given all the participants an opportunity to furnish us with supplementary submissions on or before the 26th of July this year, in order to allow the commission time to review the submissions but to also decide on the way forward.
