City of Tshwane left with less than 24 hours to provide water to Hammanskraal

26 September 2019

The South African Human Rights Commission is giving the City of Tshwane until Friday to deliver clean drinking water to residents of Hammanskraal.

This follows complaints from residents that they are experiencing water problems which could lead to chronic health conditions for a number of years.
SA Human Rights Commission provincial manager Buang Jones has more.

There hasn't been any significant improvement in the water supply to the residents of Hammanskraal.

Jones says they have received a progress report from the City of Tshwane.

We took an ultimatum on the 16 August 2019 and we gave the city until the 23 August to provide the residents of Hammanskraal with portable water of consumable standards.
