Limpopo SAHRC to hold hearings into school violence

18 May 2021

JOHANNESBURG - The Human Rights Commission says bullying is rife in Limpopo and strong action needs to be taken against perpetrators.

Limpopo SAHRC manager, Victor Mavhidula says there are ongoing hearings into bullying, corporal punishment and sexual relationships between educators and pupils.

This follows the tragic suicide of Lufuno Mavhunga after she was assaulted by other schoolgirls.

Mavhidula said the commission is seeking to find a long-term solution for the stakeholders.
