"The purpose of the initiative was to establish a committee of children to be called SAHRC Child Rights Ambassadors so that the SAHRC can solicit opinions of the children themselves on human rights related matters affecting them in their daily lives." So said Tembisa Leeuw of the SAHRC. Sibonakaliso Magagula of Mbhunu Secondary School in Steenbok, Mbali Mashele of Lowveld High in Mbombela and Noh'anne Bios from Piet Retief were elected as Mpumalanga's Child Rights Ambassadors and will therefore represent the province in the upcoming national Child Rights Dialogue to be held in Tshwane. "It is an honour for me to be selected among the three who will represent the province, and I shall commit myself to ensure that I advocate for the rights of my peers and represent Mpumalanga to the best of my abilities," said Sibonakaliso.
