SAHRC calls for better protection of children’s rights

25 March 2017

The South African Human Rights Commission has called for better protection and implementation of children’s rights.

This comes after the country celebrated Human Rights Day earlier this week.

The commission says every child in the country has rights as outlined in section 28 of the constitution.

Nearly every government in the world has promised to protect, respect and fulfill these rights, yet they are still violated.

Speaking on Morning Live, Human Rights Commissioner Angela Makwetla says every child under the age of 18-years should be protected.
