IFNASA provides a platform for self-control, tolerance and respect. IFNASA is fundamentally structured around three pillars, which are to provide leadership, education and awareness for Coloureds, to occupy the vacuum left as it pertains to legal matters, community – people development, as well as the advancement of land restitution and recompense and finally to provide a local, national and international platform for consultation, dialogue and conflict resolution between the coloured people and relevant stakeholders.

The IFNASA group are the members who initially started or sparked the idea of the protest in Eldorado Park with the aim of getting their community jobs and business opportunities as there is a lack thereof in Eldorado Park and surrounding areas

Anthony Williams said, “What subsequently happened to the initiative was that people have hijacked the protest in order to loot and vandalise local businesses. IFNASA and its members denounce any violence and purge-like tendencies which have occurred within the community.

“IFNASA and its role members have called upon lawyers to assist anyone who has been incarcerated and who do not have any access to legal assistance after being shot and injured during the protest.”

They have also engaged with the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) and have called them to a meeting at the Don Mateman Civic Centre, in Extension Five.

This meeting was held to establish who had been shot, arrested or injured, the location of the victims, how many people were incarcerated and the number of people who were injured, following last week’s violent protests.

Additionally, the main purpose of the meeting and the inclusion of the SAHRC was to provide relief and legal assistance to victims injured by rubber bullets.
