Zuma letter could land him jail time

30 July 2017

African National Congress (ANC) spokesperson Zizi Kodwa has described President Jacob Zuma's son Edward as extremely ill-disciplined for making negative remarks on former ministers Derek Hanekom and Pravin Gordhan in a letter.

Zuma called the two sell-outs.

He also called Gordhan one of the most corrupt cadres of the ANC, and Hanekom a "white Afrikaner askari".

On Saturday, Zuma lashed out at the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) for saying it would take action against him for making the remarks.

The Commission says the remarks could land him in jail as they promote hatred and violate the constitutional right to freedom of expression.

On Friday, the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal gave Zuma five days in which to retract the letter and apologise or face disciplinary action.
