The African National Congress (ANC) in KZN has given President Jacob Zuma's son Edward Zuma five days to retract an open letter in which he lashes out at former cabinet ministers.

The ANC says if he does not retract the letter he will face a disciplinary hearing.
In the letter, Edward Zuma attacked former tourism minister Derek Hanekom and former finance minister Pravin Gordhan, accusing them of protecting white monopoly capital and being sell-outs.

ANC KZN spokesperson Mdumiseni Ntuli described the letter as offensive.
"After we saw the letter we directed Edward to retract it and issue a public statement in retracting that letter and apologise to having use offensive and inappropriate language.
"If he fails to comply with the directive within five days, he will then be called before the ANC's disciplinary process," said Ntuli.
The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) on Friday said that it would take action against Edward Zuma as they believe that the promotes race-based hatred.
