Rights activists are celebrating Wednesday's decision by the Cape Town High Court which opens the door to the disclosure of the sources of political party funding.
Following the recent service delivery protests in Eldorado Park and surrounding areas, allegations of racial tensions in the community and the disruption of schooling at Klipspruit West Secondary School, the South African Human Rights Commission (Commission) will hold a public investigative hearing.

The South African Human Rights Commission in collaboration with Kgotla Ya Barolong Boo-Seleka, will be hosting Heritage Day commemorative engagement. The engagement will be hosted under the theme: RECLAIMING, RESTORING AND CELEBRATING OUR LIVING HERITAGE.
Heritage day is celebrated annually as a national public holiday on 24 September. On this day, South Africans across the spectrum are encouraged to celebrate their diverse cultural heritage, shared historical, linguistic, collective memory, beliefs, customs, traditions, rituals, indigenous knowledge systems, food, and  oral history.

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) and South Africa’s new Information Regulator are set to celebrate Universal Access to Information Day on Thursday, 28 September from 10am – 1pm at the Sunnyside Park Hotel, Johannesburg. The Open Democracy Advice Centre, a non-governmental organisation, is a part of these celebrations. Freedom of information is a fundamental right in South Africa, and a right on which transparency, accountability, public participation and the realisation of other rights are heavily dependent.

Gauteng police have encouraged the witnesses to lay a charge of crimen injuria against the man.

Video footage posted on Twitter showing a drunk man urinating on a sleeping parking attendant in Hatfield, Pretoria, at the weekend prompted a shocked response from users, who also questioned the humanity of South Africans.
