Friday was the deadline for the Department of Health to hand over an action plan to resolve the province’s oncology crisis, but any intervention will come too late for a nine-year-old boy who died while waiting for radiotherapy treatment.

Qalokusha Msweli died at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital from a cancerous tumour in his brainstem on Thursday morning. His mother, Thandi Khoza, said he was wheezing and coughing on Wednesday night. She was by his side as he let out a final cough, then took his last breath.

The author of a “fake social media post” containing racist remarks that referred to black people as baboons, has apologised, short-term insurance company, MiWay said on Friday.

The social media post purported to show an email written by a MiWay staff member. After an independent forensic investigation into the incident, MiWay identified former client, Mondli Madlala, as the writer.

Death Of 300 Cancer Patients: An attempt by the DA to lay charges of culpable homicide against provincial and national health department heads at the Point Police Station in Durban was thwarted by the police on Wednesday. The party had hoped to lay charges against both Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi and Health MEC Sibongiseni Dhlomo for the deaths of 300 cancer patients in KwaZulu-Natal.

HOUGHTON –The staff member has resigned from all senior positions at the school but ‘mitigating circumstances’ did not warrant his dismissal.

President Jacob Zuma’s son, Edward, called ANC members Derek Hanekom and Pravin Gordhan representatives of “white monopoly capital fronts and anti-majoritarian rule”.

In an open letter written in his personal capacity, Edward Zuma slammed the dissenting former ministers of tourism and finance, who have called on the president to step down.  The letter attributed to President Jacob Zuma’s son Edward has lashed out at former finance minister Pravin Gordhan. who earlier on Wednesday challenged South Africans to stand up to resist the capture of the state to prevent a “10 year slump”.

The SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) has announced that it will investigate President Jacob Zuma’s son for lashing out at former finance minister Pravin Gordhan and former Tourism minister Derek Hanekom in a vitriolic open letter. The Commission said it found Edward’s letter is offensive, disturbing and that it particularly promotes hatred on the basis of race and is a clear violation of the right to freedom of expression as articulated in section 16 of the Constitution.

The South African Human Rights Commission says it is looking into a controversial letter from President Jacob Zuma's son Edward to former Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and Tourism Minister Derek Hanekom. The open letter was published by Zuma earlier this year. In it, he accused Gordhan of being a white stooge. He also took a swipe at Hanekom.
