The South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) has on Thursday urged South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) to investigate the mysterious death of a 61-year-old patient who was found dead inside a Stellenbosch hospital ceiling.

SANCO National Spokesperson, Jabu Mahlangu called for security to be beefed up at all Public hospitals, to avoid such incidents in future.
“It is unacceptable for a patient admitted to a public hospital to simply disappear without anyone taking responsibility for his disappearance or being answerable to their next of kin,” Mahlangu said.

AFTER Matthews Mabelane plunged to his death from the 10th floor of the then John Vorster Square 40 years ago, his family received a message with his clothes. On the inside of the white lining of his green, bloodied pants, it was written: "Brother Lasch, inform mom and other brothers that the police are going to push me from the 10th floor and I am bidding you goodbye forever."
