JOHANNESBURG - The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) says the Red Ants often violate people's rights when they carry out evictions.
The commission is investigating after two people died during violent clashes between shack dwellers and the Red Ants in Rustervaal, Vereeniging, earlier this week during an eviction operation.

The public protector and the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) on Wednesday said they were to combine efforts in a bid to get to the bottom of service delivery complaints that have given rise to recent violent protests in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg.
Alexandra residents have been protesting over poor service delivery since last week.

JOHANNESBURG - The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) will today conduct a fact-finding mission at Sibanye-Stillwater’s Driefontein mine in Carletonville amid the four-and-a-half-month wage strike that has claimed nine lives.
The visit comes after employees and community members approached the commission to raise concerns that the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) led strike could lead to another Marikana tragedy like that of mid-August 2012.

Fifteen thousand miners affiliated to the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union downed tools at Sibanye's gold operations in November after rejecting the company's wage offer.

Gauteng Health head of department Professor Mkhululi Lukhele answered questions on Tuesday stemming from a South African Human Rights Commission investigation into the state of the province’s health system. CAPE TOWN - Teachers at some Cape Town schools have to deal with more than 100 pupils each day.
The Western Cape Education Department says processes are in place to deal with troubles facing Cape Town schools.
Some children have not been taught this year because of staff shortages.
During a surprise visit, the South African Human Rights Commission discovered that children don’t have a school building of their own and teachers are forced to educate 100 of them at a time in Mfuleni. Human Rights Commissioners had to step in following calls from disgruntled parents over the quality of education their children are receiving. Click here to view the

The statements referred to, were made during unrelated separate occasions between 2016 and 2018 – Show host Iman Rappetti spoke to SAHRC CEO Advocate Tseliso Thipanyane to unpack the commission’s findings. The South African Human Rights Commission, SAHRC says that EFF leader Julius Malema`s comments were offensive, but it do not legally qualify as hate speech. Senior researcher at SAHRC, Dr Shanelle van der Burg made the announcement in Johannesburg earlier today. The Commission had consolidated complaints of alleged hate speech against Malema and other members of his party who have allegedly uttered words towards certain race groups in the country. The South Africa Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) on Thursday ordered the department of human settlements to finalise its special national housing programme for people with psychosocial and intellectual disabilities.
The order was made in the commission’s report into the status of mental healthcare in the country, which was prompted by the Life Esidimeni tragedy which claimed the lives of at least 144 psychiatric patients.
