A medical surgery in Mokopane, Limpopo, has come under fire from the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) for alleged racism, breaching a number of medical ethics codes. SAHRC provincial manager Victor Mavhidula is quoted in News24 as saying that the commission had visited the surgery and found that patients were segregated upon entry, and treated differently based on race.

A white medical practitioner in Mokopane, Limpopo, who is under investigation for racism this week acceded to racially divided consultation rooms at his practice.
This was after an in loco inspection of the doctor's premises by the South African Human Rights Commission this week.
The commission, which started its investigation into the allegations of racism at the doctor's place last month, said their investigation confirmed the racism complaints.

With the heat on retailer H&M subsiding, the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) says it is taking a firm stance on the business sector and human rights abuse. The commission voiced its disappointment at the recent H&M ad campaign that featured a black boy modelling a hoodie with the words “coolest monkey in the jungle” printed on it. While H&M has publicly apologized for the ad and encouraged constructive input from members of the public, the commission will now be investigating how businesses conduct themselves and adhere to the values enshrined within the South African Constitution. This follows a meeting on Friday, between the retailer and the SAHRC, in which the company indicated that it will be developing a plan to ensure that staff members are educated about issues of race and diversity.
SAHRC CEO, Tseliso Thipanyane, explains that while the SAHRC has tabled its concerns, H&M has apologised for the campaign. However, the commission requires more action than an apology.

Unrepentantly homophobic Cape Town pastor Oscar Bougardt is once again attacking the LGBTQ community, this time proclaiming that gays and lesbians are to blame for the city’s drought.
On Monday, Bougardt took to Facebook to expound his views on the pending disaster in the Mother City, which could see taps running dry in April.
